Forest Birds of Hawaii

These six birds can frequently be seen along the trails in our forests.  The tiny Japanese White-eye and the larger Red-billed Leiothrix are introduced species.  The peach- colored, curved bill identifies the Iiwi.  It's smaller relative, the Apapane, is  similar in color.  The Elepaio is a flycatcher which often perches with an up-lifted tail.  The Omao Thrush is rather drab but has a unique song.
